New Purchasers Guide to PBM Quality now available

The National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions along with the MidAtlantic Business Group on Health have prepared this guide to pharmacy benefit manager quality. It’s provided to WellOK employer members as a service.

One caveat: two participating PBMs did not agree to being identified in the report.

The National Alliance says:

  1. Special Reports:
    Each PBM submitted a report on a new area that they are strong in.  Most of these areas were mentioned many times at the Annual Meeting, including Point-of-sale rebates, biosimilars, genetic testing, and so forth.  These mini-reports educate members, while giving the PBMs a chance to shine at the same time.

  2. Action Steps.
    We limited our recommendations to 5 action steps.  The action steps relate to areas where we need to accelerate progress.  If purchasers ask their PBMs about there they are on areas like biosimilars, community pharmacy assessment, and innovative contracting processes like open audits and outcomes-based contracting, we can speed adoption and improve the industry for us all.
